about

This is RCR's epic. The longest and richest song the band has ever recorded. Surprisingly, there are fewer guitar and vocal tracks here than in many of the other songs, primarily because of Alan's brilliant performance on drums.

This is also the last song the band finished for the album, having completed all but vocals by early 2009. Indeed, it wasn't until that summer when the band finally got around to laying down the vocals, but it only took one afternoon to write and record them.

This song is an example of the kind of song the band targeted to write on this record, a song that is loud and rich, but also one that actually goes somewhere, has a beginning, middle and end. The goal here was to leave the listener absolutely exhausted by end of the seven minutes it takes for the song to reach its climax.

lyrics

VERSE 1
Can you see what I see
The colors dancing in my eyes
Lying flat on my back
I can almost touch the starry sky
Do I have what I need
or will I be searching my whole life
Finally I believe
In the virtues of a sacrifice

CHORUS
Dying for your love
Do you ever think of me?
Blood is everything
Lies are not enough
To show you what cannot be see
Was it all a dream?
Easily we fall into the night

VERSE 2
Faith won't keep me alive
Yeah the angels I heard whispering
I'm faking when I cry
Yeah a thousand cuts won't make bleed
